Lee Urban

As Director of Planning and Development for the City of Portland, Lee's days begin early and often end long after dark. Lee sought out the opportunity to serve as a Business Advisor for Common Good Ventures because it allowed him the opportunity to give back in smaller, more flexible chunks of time that could be coordinated with the rest of his busy schedule. Acting as a mentor to a mid-career nonprofit Executive Director who is new to the area, Lee's years of community involvement and business experience provide perspective, insight and learning opportunities. He also provides context for a community he has been a part of for nearly thirty years – an important asset in helping a newcomer assimilate.

Lee's background includes over 30 years in real estate law, as head of Pierce Atwood's Real Estate Department, as in-house counsel to Maine's largest real estate brokerage company and in private practice. He has been the Executive Director of Greater Portland Landmarks and of an AIDS hospice, as well as a fund-raising consultant to nonprofit organizations. A Colby College graduate, his law degree is from Georgetown University.
