Kip Moore:
Experienced venture capitalist and supporter of Maine organizationsAn experienced venture capital investor, Kip Moore was quick to understand the benefits of business and management approaches for nonprofits. He became one of Common Good Ventures' earliest supporters, both financially and as an active Springboard panelist.
Kip was an early partner of one of the nation's most prestigious private equity firms, Welsh, Carson, Anderson and Stowe and prior to that was an executive with Automatic Data Processing. In 1993 he founded Maine-based Little Diamond Island Enterprises to make early-stage investments in technology companies focusing on software, computer services and data communications. A majority of his recent investments have been in Maine start-ups - in 2002 he was awarded MESDA's "Angel of the Year" award. He is a board member of Maine Audubon as well as Maine's Small Enterprise Growth Fund and Coastal Enterprises Ventures.
When the weather is good Kip commutes by sailboat from Little Diamond Island, where he lives, to work in Portland... a great substitute for taking the subway to work, which he did when he lived in New York City before 1993. He and his wife Emily have four children, all grown, three of whom are still living in Maine.
